Multilevel Effects of Student Qualifications and In-Classroom Variables on Science Achievement

چکیده

This research aims to determine the effects of student qualifications and some in-classroom variables related school teaching process on TIMSS science achievement 4th-grade students in Turkey. It was also aimed that contributed most explaining differences between schools at classroom levels this study, which conducted with a causal comparison pattern. The sample study consists 6378 teachers these students. data group analyzed using Two-Level Hierarchical Linear Model (HLM). absenteeism, not having breakfast, use technology school, outside home scores were found be statistically significant as result HLM analysis. Teachers’ perceptions inadequacy school's facilities resources, giving feedback homework, discussing homework classroom, answers given by have level. These results are improving academic performance primary reveal importance number psychological physical characteristics may affect positively or negatively.
